An often overlooked step in the design process is where guiding principles and themes are identified. They are referenced in order to keep the overall design cohesive rather than a collection of individual features. They are derived from understanding what the Business aims to achieve with the project, what the design and research teams believe is essential, and by auditing similar applications for context.
